Encouragement Ministries International is a Sussex based charity (No.1095710) aiming to advance the Christian faith by the provision of training for Church leaders and to assist Churches with their education and development programmes.

In 1981 David began pastoring full-time in the U.K. and also became involved in overseas ministry over several years in India and Albania (and a single trip to Mongolia) teaching and equipping churches with the Word of God. In recent years the overseas invitations have increased and through various circumstances God led David to set up E.M.I. in 2002, so releasing them to concentrate on the overseas ministry. In 2003 EMI was finally registered with the Charity Commission and the work has continued to develop since that time.

Each year David makes trips to India and East Africa with Laureen having visited Jordan and accompanied David to India, Uganda and Kenya. In 2006/7 they spent a year pastoring Rock Ministries Church, Kitetikka, near Kampala, Uganda.

In recent years David has taught at pastors training seminars in:
* Rwanda (Kigali)
* Tanzania (Arusha)
* Uganda (Mympere, Bushenie, Kitetikka, Biseruka)
* Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Awendo, Saiya, and Homa Hills). A training institute has been set up in Dandora and a Bible School built in Kisumu.

In India David has worked with Pastor Thankachan (Full Gospel Church of God, Tirivullur, Tamil Nadu), having seen over 100 churches, four Bible schools, orphanages and widows ministries established.

Laureen has set up a Poultry Project for poor women in a village in Uganda and also sells jewellery that they have made. Through EMI, a 6th Form block has been built for a school in Uganda and help has been given to many poor people. Bibles, teaching and Sunday school materials have been given to pastors and churches

In the UK they are now based at the Elim Church in Crawley where they enjoy discipling, teaching and leading a small group. David still plays guitar in the worship group and preaches in other churches when invited. Laureen teaches ESOL from the church and also works as a ‘doula’. (Doulas are provide support before labour, during labour, birth and afterwards)
